MACROSCOPY LABORATORY

In our department, there is a macroscopy laboratory with samples of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks in an area of ​​100 m².

 

Practical courses on the following topics are held in the geological engineering department's macroscopy laboratory. For this purpose, by using the samples in the laboratory;

1. Mineral Idenfications
2. Fossil Identifications
3. Magmatic (Plutonic, Sub-Plutonic, Volkanic) Rocks Idenfications
4. Metamorphic Rock Idenfications
5. Sedimentary Rock Identifications are made.

    

MICROSCOPY LABORATORY

Our department has a microscopy laboratory with an area of ​​89 m² and 13 polarizing microscopes.

  

The following studies are carried out in the geological engineering microscopy laboratory;

1. Determination of rock-forming minerals and their optical properties
2. Determination of rock names (magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary) and metamorphic/magmatic environments
3. Conducting paleontological studies
4. Fossil contents of rocks and environmental analysis
5. Determination of sedimentary rocks and sedimentary environments
