MÜDEK
Introduction
The Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MÜDEK) is a non-governmental organization that works to contribute to the improvement of the quality of engineering education in Turkey by conducting accreditation, evaluation and information studies for engineering education programs in different disciplines.
MÜDEK was established in 2002 by the Engineering Deans Council (MDK), which consists of the deans of the faculties providing engineering education in Turkey and the TRNC, as an independent non-governmental platform called the Engineering Evaluation Board to organize and implement a detailed program for the evaluation of engineering undergraduate programs within these faculties.
Purpose
The purpose of MÜDEK is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of engineering education in Turkey by conducting accreditation, evaluation and information studies for engineering education programs in different disciplines, thus ensuring that the welfare of society is advanced by training better educated and more qualified engineers who understand current and developing technologies.
National Recognition
The application made by MÜDEK to the Council of Higher Education on October 31, 2007 was discussed and approved at the General Assembly meeting of the Council held on November 16, 2007, and it was decided that it would be appropriate for higher education institutions to be recognized by the Council of Higher Education as a national quality assurance organization focused on national, sectoral and program qualifications in engineering programs in accordance with Article 7/e of the relevant regulation and to receive a Quality Assessment Certificate within this scope with a validity period of five years.
International Membership and Authorization
MÜDEK has been a full member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) since November 17, 2006. It has been authorized by ENAEE to issue the EUR-ACE Label with the decision of the ENAEE Administrative Council dated January 21, 2009. MÜDEK has become a member of the IEA (International Engineering Alliance) Washington Accord (Signatory) since June 15, 2011.
