General Information
MASTER'S DEGREE (THESIS) PROGRAMME
The geological engineering master's program is designed to meet the needs of geoscientists who are experts in their field and geological engineers in the private sector and higher education institutions. Additionally, this program offers qualified students working in different academic disciplines the opportunity to receive advanced education in the field of Geological engineering. Graduate students will study structural geology-tectonics (seismicity of Elazığ and its surroundings, eastern anatolian fault (DAF) system), economic mineral deposits (metallic mines, gold, copper, chrome, etc.), three-dimensional interpretation and modeling of the land, geographical information systems (GIS). They can specialize in geological fields and subjects such as geological mapping, volcanic activities and geological features of Elazığ and its surroundings, dam, road construction, water and environmental pollution.
Graduate students who meet university and program requirements are awarded a Master of Science (MS) degree in geological engineering. Students in this program must demonstrate that they have sufficient knowledge of Geological Engineering by completing extended course and homework requirements.
Ph.D (THESIS) PROGRAMME
The geological engineering doctoral program offers students who have completed the geological engineering master's program the opportunity to receive a much more advanced education in their field, primarily for geoscientists who want to specialize in their field at an advanced level, so that they can work in academic disciplines. Doctoral program students are encouraged to make national and international publications and papers in important areas of geological engineering (structural, stratigraphy, sedimentology, mineral deposits, water and environmental pollution, volcanic activities, ore exploration, petrography, dams, roads, ground surveys, etc.).
Graduate students who meet university and program requirements are awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. Students of this program are required to demonstrate that they have sufficient knowledge of geological engineering by completing extended course and homework requirements.
