General Information
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME
The Geological Engineering Undergraduate Program aims to provide undergraduate education to its students with the understanding of continuous development, to conduct scientific research, to present its knowledge for the benefit of society, to educate graduates who are equipped with professional knowledge, contemporary, enterprising, self-confident and have international knowledge so that the graduates of the department will be the most sought-after in the business and scientific world.
In our program, education and research are carried out in 4 departments;
In the first two years of the four-year education, mainly engineering and science courses are taken, and in the last two years, vocational courses and practices are given. Undergraduate students are taken to geological structures and businesses in Elazığ and neighboring provinces for practical learning in the spring semesters of the last two years (an average of 10 days in each class and 20 days in total undergraduate education). In the last semester of undergraduate education, every student is required to complete a theoretical/practical final paper and a total of 40 working days of internship in relevant institutions after the second. year.
EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES OF THE PROGRAMME
In the Geological Engineering undergraduate program, students who are interested in observing and interpreting all the phenomena taking place in and on the earth, who can present the data, techniques and principles of geology to all kinds of engineering use, who can prepare the 4-dimensional (x-y-z-t) geological model of the project area, who can form the earth's crust with training and practical knowledge are trained. It aims to train geological engineers who can identify materials, identify problems in advance and develop engineering solutions to problems, conduct basic and applied scientific research with an innovative approach and present its knowledge to the benefit of all sectors (mining, industry, medicine, defense, energy, construction, etc.) and society.
It is aimed for graduates of Fırat University Geological Engineering undergraduate program to have the following competencies and qualifications.
1. Prioritizing the ability of program graduates to work in private and public institutions and organizations;
The important areas of work for Geological Engineers graduating from the Department of Geological Engineering in the country are as follows:
